One year ago today we set up our blog page to give an insight into some of the work the DYW Ayrshire team were carrying out and we can’t believe how much of a success this page has been.
With views hitting over 4400 and 39 posts being published it sure has been a busy year for the DYW Ayrshire team and we can’t wait to see these figures rise even more.
In the space of a year a lot has been happening. On a personal level two of our team members Gill & Tony have got engaged and been married to their amazing partners Richard and Jacky. Tony also passed his Health and Safety Work Placement Assessment Qualification and Danielle completed her diploma in Digital Skills.
We also took part in the Ayrshire Chamber’s ‘car pool karaoke’ which was shown to over 500 guests at Trump Turnberry during the Platinum Dinner, held our first ever DYW Conference at The Park Hotel in Kilmarnock and funded 10 innovative activities projects throughout the local area.
The start of 2016 meant it was back to work for our Project Executive Claire who had been off on maternity leave during 2015 to have her beautiful baby girl Eve while 2 of our other team members Emma and Natalie were busy buying their first homes!
We also invested time and money into making our presence online well known by launching our DYW Ayrshire website and social media platforms and bought our very own Nikon camera which has allowed us to produce all our video footage of employer interviews, Behind the Scenes visits and much more.
Our Behind the Scenes videos have helped to raise the awareness of local companies and highlight the opportunities they offer. We love to show employers the benefits of recruiting young people into a business and have done this through interviewing several local employers including Brownings the Bakers, QTS, The Nexus Agency and Rainbow Services to name a few. You can watch these videos by checking out our YouTube channel here.
We are also excited to be welcoming our newest team member in the next few weeks Steven McBlain who will be part of the work experience team organising the work experience placements for young people across Ayrshire and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2017 has in store for us!
